Nigerian Troops Recover Borno Major Town

NIGERIAN ARMY
The Nigerian troops have recaptured a major town in Borno State named Bama, which has been under Boko Haram’s control since September, 2014.
The military had made several unsuccessful attempts to recapture the town a security source revealed on Tuesday.
Soldiers were said to have broken into wild jubilation in the Maimalari Barrack, the headquarters of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri after the commercial town had been liberated.
Bama is the second largest town in Borno State and has a place in the history of the Kanuri.
It was learnt that the battle to recapture the town was led by the General Officer Commanding, 7th Division, Maj. General Lamidi Adeosun.
The GOC, an infantry general, led his team to the town on Monday and returned on Tuesday after troops had successfully recaptured the town.
It was gathered that contrary to earlier fears, the Nigerian troops did not meet serious resistance from the sect in Konduga and Bama towns.
A source among the troops said, “The general did not even utilise our crack boys in Konduga. He just took his team from our supply of new boys here and drove straight into Bama, leaving the Konduga guys to rest and continue watching his back till he took over Bama. He chased the bad people out, removed their flags and installed our authority.”
It will be recalled that the Senators in Nigeria’s national assembly today commended the Nigerian military over the recent successes recorded in the war against Boko Haram.
