Buhari’s Wife’s Convoy Attacked in Kwara

Suspected hoodlums on Monday attacked the convoy of the wife of the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC), Hajia Aishat Muhammadu Buhari, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

During the

attack, according to THISDAY checks, about 10 vehicles in the convoy were vandalised by the hoodlums.

It was gathered that the incident happened along Emir road, Ilorin when she left the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, where she paid a visit before moving to venue of a sensitisation programme at Banquet Hall of Government House, Ilorin.

Mrs. Buhari, wife of the vice-presidential candidate of the APC, Mrs. Oludolapo Osinbajo, and other top women leaders of the party were in Ilorin to sensitise the APC women in the state on how they will vote during the polls.

THISDAY investigations further revealed that the incident was said to have caused a serious apprehension in the state and in the ruling APC in the state.
It was gathered that the hoodlums who attacked the convoy were sponsored by one of the top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin.

Unconfirmed reports last night revealed that the state police command arrested two persons in connection with the incident

When contacted, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Saliu Garba, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday said the attack was perpetrated by some people suspected to be “good boys” in the town.

He however said only one vehicle was attacked during the incident.
Garba also assured that the matter would be further investigated in order to fish out other perpetrators of the act.

Also speaking on the incident, the state chairman of APC, Alhaji Isola Balogun Fulani who condemned the attack on Mrs Buhari and her entourage, alleged thatthe attack was sponsored by one of the top chieftains of the PDP in Ilorin.

He said: “The worrisome incident took place today during the visit of Hajia Aisat Buhari, the wife of the APC presidential candidate. Her convoy was attacked at the film house along Emir road, Ilorin where about 10 vehicles were vandalised.”

The chairman who decried repeated attacks on members of the APC in the state by people suspected to be supporters of the PDP, called on the state police command to investigate on the incident so as to bring the culprits into book.
