E. A. Adeboye – Lessons on Vow
Topic: Lessons on Vow [Friday 12, May 2017]
Memorise: That which is gone out of thy lips
thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill
offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the
LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy
mouth. – Deuteronomy 23:23
Read: Judges 11:29-36 (KJV)
29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon
Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and
Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead,
and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto
the children of Ammon.
30 And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD,
and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the
children of Ammon into mine hands,
31 Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh
forth of the doors of my house to meet me,
when I return in peace from the children of
Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will
offer it up for a burnt offering.
32 So Jephthah passed over unto the children of
Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD
delivered them into his hands.
33 And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou
come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto
the plain of the vineyards, with a very great
slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were
subdued before the children of Israel.
34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his
house, and, behold, his daughter came out to
meet him with timbrels and with dances: and
she was his only child; beside her he had
neither son nor daughter.
35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that
he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter!
thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one
of them that trouble me: for I have opened my
mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
36 And she said unto him, My father, if thou
hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me
according to that which hath proceeded out of
thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken
vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of
the children of Ammon.

Jeremiah 29:24-30:9 , Hymn: Sing hymn 14
MESSAGE:
Sometimes, some people promise God one
thing, but when the time comes to redeem the
pledge, they bring something else. Do you think
that God does not have records in Heaven?
Once you make a pledge to God, don’t try to
change it. Ecclesiastes 5:6 says,
“Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin;
neither say thou before the angel, that it was an
error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice,
and destroy the work of thine hands?”
After you have committed yourself to a
particular thing as a vow, if you later return to
say, “It was a slip of the tongue, God will
understand”, you are only deceiving yourself.
Such an excuse is not acceptable to God. God
expects you to stand by your word. Hence, as
part of the requirements to stand in God’s holy
place, Psalm 15:4 says if you make a vow, you
are expected to do everything possible to
redeem it, no matter the cost, sacrifice or
inconveniencies involved. Do you have this
quality? It is part of the integrity we must have
as believers.
Another lesson on vows is that you must be
extremely careful before making a vow. Think
very well before pledging a commitment to do a
particular thing, because once it has gone out
of your mouth, you may not be able to beat a
retreat. Some people get carried away with zeal
and make a mouth-watering vow but later find it
difficult to redeem it. Be careful! Only vow to
give up what is within the limit of your
capability and not what you know you cannot
cope with! The story of Jephthah is a very
touching one. He needed victory so badly that
he vowed to sacrifice to God whatever first
came out of his house to meet him on his
return. After the battle was over, as he returned
home with great joy, it was his only child – his
virgin daughter – that came out first to
welcome him. He felt so bad. He realised the
rashness of his vow, but he could not turn back
from his promise. Finally, one more lesson on
vows is that God does not like to hear the voice
of vow-defaulters, and He would ultimately
destroy their efforts (Ecclesiastes 5:6) . Is God
fighting you over a vow you have defaulted on?
Repent now and restitute. If need be, seek the
guidance of a Spirit-filled Christian counsellor or
pastor.
Action Point: Unpaid vows are debts that can
hinder you from making heaven. Prayerfully recall
your unpaid debts and redeem them fast.

THURSDAY MAY 11
*Judgment On The Abominable*
*********************************
TEXT: EZEKIEL 16:35-43
Key verse:
*_“And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy” (Ezekiel 16:38)._*
A typical 21st century society is bedevilled by all forms of crime: financial, economic, sexual and social perversions, with all forms of atrocities perpetrated against mankind. A question that should readily navigate our minds should be, how would our society have looked like, if there were no laws?
This was the case of the children of Israel at the time of Ezekiel. Though they had been given laws to follow, yet they committed all forms of crimes against God (idolatry being the chiefest). It was such a lawless society. Since there appeared to be no law enforcement agents, God took it upon Himself the role of the law enforcement Agent. Judgment was declared upon the abominable nation.
This is a great lesson for all to learn. Though it appears that there is no immediate judgment for sin and there is nobody to enforce judgment for sin, a time is coming when the cup of God’s fury shall be full and judgment shall be pronounced on sinners. Every action of man done in the secret or in the open, whether it be good or bad, shall receive the judgment of God. If God could pronounce such judgment on the nation he referred to as His bride, it shows that there is no respect of persons with Him.
Here then is the need for all to be careful. God’s love and compassion must be carefully weighed against His severity and judgement. Sinners must court His love and forgiveness before it is too late. Saints on the other hand must remain in the faith till the very end, if they are not to court His hot displeasure.

*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:* The wicked shall not be unpunished.
The Bible IN ONE YEAR: 2 CHRONICLES: 13-17

*May we escape the wrath to come!*
HIS VOICE:
Memorise: And when the sun was up,they were scorched, and because they have no root, they withered away. Matthew 13:6.
Insight: Luke 8:11-15.
The parable of the sower and the seed is one of the most important parable spoken by the Lord Jesus before his disciples and other multitudes. He opens up the foundation upon which the kingdom is built, not keeping them in ignorance about the meaning of this crucial parable.
While he establish, that this parable is for thier advantage and usefulness, He affirms:" unto you,it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given,he continued clarifying this truth in thier heart, saying, blessed are your eyes, for they see:and your ears, for they hear.
You have been given the right to the deep things of God and your eyes as well as your ears are blessed, you are not dull of hearing,as you belong to Christ.
Explaining the meaning of this parable, He said, the seed is the Word of God,
Some fell at the way side, those are they which hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of thier hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. ( Luke 8:12).
The devil has failed concerning you, because the Word has saved you, having grown in your heart.
They that fell on the rock or stony ground are they which when they hear, receive the word with Joy and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away (Luke 8:13).
Can you see the Wisdom of God?,revealing that been saved isn't the end of your new creation, the word of God that got you transformed, will require you to stay firm with it to the end without wavering.
Your faith in Christ, will pass through trials because you are in the World but not of this World and the World is against the Word of God.
1 peter 1:7 establishes this:
That the trail of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
James 1:2-3,helps us more saying,
My brethren,count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
It is therefore necessary that you allow the Word of God have root in you. Because tribulations, persecutions will arise as a result of your faith in Christ and your believe in his name, you can't afford to be offended, and fall out of the Grace of God where in you stand.
Is your ground stony? Break up your fallow ground today.
Pray this:Father, by your grace that makes perfect in weakness, keep me rooted in your word, settled and established, that i will stand still in time of trials and temptation.

MESSAGE:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
As we have seen in our previous studies, it is a terrible thing to be lonely and forsaken by relatives and friends, or to be told by your pastor that your problem defies all spiritual efforts. In that seemingly hopeless state, God can reach out to you and turn things around. Let us look at some reasons why He will help you. First of all, Isaiah 63:1 says He is mighty to save.
In other words, not only is this God the Almighty God, He can equally save in a mighty way. This means, not only can He save you from “small” or “medium size” problems, He can also deliver you from problems that have defied all attempted solutions. In Deuteronomy 32:39, the Lord says,
“See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”
From this scripture, we understand that He has the final say regarding life and death. He is the only one who can tell the fellow that the whole world has condemned to death, “You will surely live.” Have you been condemned to death, sickness or barrenness of any kind? Fear not! This Almighty God will arise because of you, and He shall deliver you today!
Moreover, in today’s Bible reading, He made some very powerful promises to you. He says He knows you are weak, helpless and defenceless, but that He will strengthen you. He says He will also help you. He knows the vanity of receiving help from men, hence the reason He says He will help you. God’s help is coming your way this season! Expect divine assistance to come your way now! Furthermore, He says He will uphold you. This means no problem or difficulty can swallow you. When God upholds you, you cannot fall. He also promises to disgrace your enemies. Every agent of darkness working against you shall be disgraced today! Furthermore, He says He will confound your enemies. That means they will be so confused that they will not know what they are doing. He says He will reduce them to nothing and cause them to perish. Every sickness or sorrow in your life shall be reduced to nothing in Jesus’ Name. Every battle against your life and destiny shall be overturned this season. All those who have risen up against you shall fall for your sake! The Lord will help you! The Lord will fight for you! From now on, you are moving from your point of weakness and vulnerability to a point of power and strength!
ACTION POINT:
Receive all the promises discussed in the devotional study with thanksgiving. Personalize and confess each of these promises.

MESSAGE:
In the midst of delay, man often comes up with
alternatives to God’s original plan or purpose.
This is a dangerous thing to do because man’s
alternative charts a new course, which can
completely take the individual concerned out of
God’s original plan. Also, any such alternative is
usually nothing more than just a quick fix
compared to God’s permanent solution.
Speaking of quick fixes, the age we live in
encourages that. We live in an age of instant
gratification. Most people are no longer
interested in any type of process; whatever they
want, they want it now! This is what I term the
“Microwave Mentality”. People are so much in a
hurry that they cannot dedicate time to do what
they should do properly.
Sadly, the trend of microwave mentality has
crept into the Church and has given birth to
what I call “Microwave Christianity”. Microwave
Christianity is doing more harm than good to the
Body of Christ. A preacher says, “All you have
to do is just believe”. The sinner says, “I
believe”. “Praise God, you are now born again”,
the preacher replies. He is in so much of a
hurry to get the sinner saved that he cannot
even tell him or her to confess his or her sins
to God. Can God save a sinner who has not
confessed his or her sins (Romans 10:10) ? That
is “microwave salvation”! The name of that
sinner may be written in the preacher’s book or
in the register of church members, but is it in
the Lamb’s Book of Life? What about
discipleship? Everything follows the same
pattern – microwave! When products of this
anomaly are confronted by the storms of life or
persecution for their faith, they find it difficult
to endure. Isaiah 28:10 reveals to us the
pattern we must follow in raising champions for
God:
“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a
little, and there a little.”
In this age of instant gratification, God remains
unmoved and unchanged: He still follows His
order and timing in raising those He will use.
Every spiritual microwave product portends
problems, sorrow and regret in the future. From
salvation to discipleship, no stage must be
skipped. Diligence plays a key role in everything
that concerns the Kingdom of God. Hence,
Hebrews 6:1 says the elementary principles
must be laid first, before you can move onto
perfection. If the foundation is tempered with,
the product will be unstable. When people are
recommended to occupy spiritual positions that
they are not spiritually qualified for, those
sponsoring them are only creating problems for
the future. Are you a product of Microwave
Christianity? Go back to the basis and rebuild
yourself!
Key Point: If we fail to diligently fight for the faith
that was delivered to us, a time will come when
all we would be left with will be fakes!

DATE: THURSDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2017

Memorise:
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. John 14:19
Read: Mark 16:1-6
16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
16:3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
16:4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
MESSAGE:
Every time I ponder on the glory awaiting all those who make it to Heaven, I feel so excited. ItIt is so magnificent that the ordinary human heart cannot fathom it. If you will partake of this glory, you must not be discouraged in your walk of faith with God. You must have the assurance in your heart that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is your Redeemer, is alive, and because He is alive, your faith is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:14 & 20). There are some who are at the point of giving up their faith. They are no longer excited about their confession of faith in Jesus Christ. Some are fainting in their spirit, and their level of commitment has waned. If you are in such situation, the Holy Spirit in Hebrew 10:38-39 says this to you:
"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."
The purpose of discouragement is to make you backslide. It is aimed at stopping the good things you started. Some of the activities of the Pharisees were aimed at discouraging the followers of Jesus, but their plots failed. Although they had Him crucified, some of His followers still followed Him to the very end. How amazing it was for them when they realised that Jesus had risen from the dead! The place where they laid His body was empty, and it remains so till today! I prophecy into your life that the very spot where the enemy hoped you will remain shall become empty!
I declare to you that there is power in the resurrection of Jesus. Every arrow of discouragement shot at you to make you faint shall instead birth a spirit of boldness in you in Jesus’ Name. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. You need to have faith in Jesus, the Redeemer of mankind. He lives forever more and no situation is beyond Him. Every delay you have experienced is just to make your testimony more glorious. You need to persist in the place of prayer. As long as you are still awaiting your testimony, don’t stop confessing the promises of God. Take practical steps to actualise God’s plan and purpose for your life. The women kept going to the tomb because there was an assurance in their spirit that their efforts would not be wasted. May be you have tried all you can, and yet there remains a Goliath in your life. Because your Redeemer lives, that problem will not overcome you. Because your Redeemer lives, that sickness will come to an end. Problems respond to either the call of faith or doubt. Make sure all your challenges hear the call of faith from you saying: "because He lives, I can face tomorrow; my tomorrow shall be alright whether the devil likes it or not." It shall be so in Jesus’ Name.
Action Point:
Make this confession of faith: Lord Jesus, become You live, I shall also live and not die.

DATE: WEDNESDAY 22ND FEBRUARY 2017 THEME: VICTORY THROUGH PRAISE Memorise: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; 2 Corinthians 10:4 Read: 2nd Chronicles 20:21-26 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever. 20:22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 20:23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 20:24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. 20:25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. 20:26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the Lord: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day. MESSAGE: The easiest way to access victory in the kingdom of God is through praise. Each time we praise the Name of the Lord, great and marvellous things are bound to happen. If you are a believer and you do not yet know the essence of praise, you are missing a lot of blessings, opportunities and privileges. Our God is all-powerful, all-knowing and is the Almighty. The moment we are committed to the realm of praise, things begin to happen at His command. There are people who have been knocking on certain doors of opportunities before now, but to no avail. Why don’t you try praise? You will be surprised at how fast those doors will open. The fact that you are praising the One that is higher than the highest should give you the assurance that your case is settled. Praise to God is an indication of absolute trust in Him. Those who put their confidence in God will always praise Him until they receive their victory, and even after receiving their victory, they still praise Him. It is the desire of the Almighty God that all His children should move from one level of victory to the other. When the people of God praise Him, infirmities, yokes, bondage, barrenness and all the works of the devil are destroyed. In the realm of praise, every limitation gives way. In the battle of life, some are victors while some are victims. I decree into your life that you will continue to enjoy the victory of the Lord in Jesus’ Name. Victors know how to move God into action. God is looking for people who can move Him through their praise. Such people will enjoy His mercy instead of receiving His judgement. Praise is the most powerful instrument we can use to move God. The whole of creation was designed to praise God (Psalm 150:5, Psalm 148). The greatest assignment of angels in Heaven is praising God (Revelations 4:8-9, Psalm 148:2). When we get to heaven, our assignment will be to keep praising God (Revelations 7:14-15, Psalm 145:2). Praise has greater impact whenever we come together to offer it to God, because His throne is set wherever His people are praising Him (Psalm 22:3). When you bow before God in praise, you are showing that He alone is the Most High. Jehoshaphat enjoyed the victory of the Lord without fighting a battle! This is what praise can do. While the enemies were gathering their mercenaries and weapons of war against Judah, the people of God gathered momentum for praise. They believed in the victory of the Lord by faith, and all their enemies were smitten before them. From today, as you praise the Lord, He will stand in your place and take over every battle of your life, and your victory shall be total in Jesus’ Name. Prayer Point: Father, let Your praise never cease from my lips. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 9-11 Isaiah 43:1-15 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE HYMN 4: THROUGH THE LOVE OF GOD OUR SAVIOUR 1 Through the love of God our Saviour, all will be well. Free and changeless is his favour, all, all is well. Precious is the blood that healed us, perfect is the grace that sealed us, strong the hand stretched forth to shield us, all must be well. 2 Though we pass through tribulation, all will be well. Ours is such a full salvation, all, all is well. Happy, still in God confiding, fruitful, if in Christ abiding, holy, through the Spirit’s guiding, all must be well. 3 We expect a bright tomorrow, all will be well. Faith can sing through days of sorrow, 'All, all is well.' On our Father’s love relying, Jesus every need supplying, in our living, in our dying, all must be well.

Read: Psalm 100, Bible in a Year: Genesis 43–45; Matthew 12:24–50
The Lord is good and his love . . . continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5
Several years ago, my wife and I stayed in a rustic bed-and-breakfast in the remote Yorkshire Dales of England. We were there with four other couples, all British, whom we had never met before. Sitting in the living room with our after-dinner coffees, the conversation turned to occupations with the question “What do you do?” At the time I was serving as the president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and I assumed that no one there knew of MBI or its founder, D. L. Moody. When I mentioned the name of the school, their response was immediate and surprising. “Of Moody and Sankey . . . that Moody?” Another guest added, “We have a Sankey hymnal and our family often gathers around the piano to sing from it.” I was amazed! The evangelist Dwight Moody and his musician Ira Sankey had held meetings in the British Isles more than 120 years ago, and their influence was still being felt.

Memorise: In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. – John 14:2
Read: John 14:1-3 (KJV)
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Bible in One Year: Mark 7-8, Isaiah 14:12-32
MESSAGE:
In Genesis 14:17-24, God the Father was revealed to Abraham as the Possessor of heaven and earth. Abraham received this revelation, and he set his heart to run with it. He was ready to forfeit the spoils of war because he was fully persuaded that he would never lack. He could take the risk of starting afresh because he knew the Lord as Possessor of Heaven and earth. The end result was that his wealth was greatly multiplied. Oh how true it is that the knowledge of God strengthens and births exploits! If you are afraid of poverty or of permanent loss, then you do not yet know the Father as Possessor of heaven and earth. If you afraid of dying small or dying in want, then you have not yet appropriated this revelation of His person in your spirit.

1. MIDNIGHT is a time of transition, from one day to another. God can bring a transition in your life as you pray at MIDNIGHT.
2. MIDNIGHT is a time of great spiritual activity, both good and evil. Destinies of men are shaped and interrupted at MIDNIGHT.
If you are not shaping your destiny at MIDNIGHT, then somebody may interrupt your life at MIDNIGHT.
3. At a natural level great victories have been won when nations were caught by surprise as their armies were asleep at MIDNIGHT. Satan launches attacks at MIDNIGHT: he feeds people in their dreams at MIDNIGHT; he rapes others in their dream as they are asleep at MIDNIGHT, etc.

In 2015 an international research company stated that there were 245 million surveillance cameras installed worldwide, and the number was growing by 15 percent every year. In addition, multiplied millions of people with smartphones capture daily images ranging from birthday parties to bank robberies. Whether we applaud the increased security or denounce the diminished privacy, we live in a global, cameras-everywhere society.

Text: Isaiah 27:1-13
Key Verse: "In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea" (Isaiah 27:1).
History is dotted with accounts of men who wielded absolute power – totalitarian dictators who shattered the destinies of millions of fellow human beings. Notable among this class is Josef Stalin who presided over USSR, the biggest empire of all times. At the peak of his power, he was said to have taken the lives of his subjects at the rate of 1500 per day. Such men were dreadful and formidable like leviathan (a fierce sea monster). Isaiah chapter 27 is a prophecy about God’s plan and care for His people – Israel and the Church.

Memorise: Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. – Psalm 40:15
Read: Psalm 40:14-17 (KJV)
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
Bible in One Year: Matthew 24-25, Isaiah 9:13-10:4
MESSAGE:
When you are connected to the All-Sufficient God, you will not lack any good thing. Why? Bible scholars call Him Jehovah El Shaddai. In other words, He is the "Breasted One". A baby sucks from the mother's breasts. Every time the child calls for milk, it is always there. All your needs can be fully satisfied in Christ. Sometime ago at our church in Ebute Metta (Lagos), I taught that when the Almighty God made this declaration:

My wife makes an amazing pot roast dinner. She takes raw meat, along with raw sliced white and sweet potatoes, celery, mushrooms, carrots, and onions and throws them into the slow cooker. Six or seven hours later the aroma fills the house, and the first taste is a delight. It is always to my advantage to wait until the ingredients in the slow cooker work together to achieve something they could not achieve individually.

Text: Genesis 26:1-5
Key Verse: "And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of" (Genesis 26:2).
Egypt has a very amazing history. The Ancient Egyptians started a civilization that lasted for more than 3000 years. They laid the foundation of what we have today as modern civilization. They contributed significantly to the development of Medicine, Engineering, Astronomy and Mathematics. The division of day and night into 24 hours and use of clock started with them.

Memorise: And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: – Genesis 14:19
Read: Genesis 14:17-24 (KJV)
17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
Bible in One Year: Matthew 22-23, Isaiah 9:1-12
MESSAGE:
The Almighty God is one, yet He manifests Himself as three different persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Different things happen that reveal the multifaceted nature of God's character whenever He manifests Himself as any of these three persons.
