The Instrument of Prayer By David Ibiyeomie

Prayer is the voice of faith to God the Father as a child of God. It is a spiritual interface that connects the natural with the supernatural.
– Prayer is an all season affair – Luke 18:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
– Prayer is the key to supernatural encounters.
– An earnest prayer commands the release of the supernatural – James 5:16
– Every good plan needs prayer for it to be actualized.
– Prayer that does not come from your heart will never produce supernatural result – Jeremiah 29.11-13.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF THOSE THAT COMMANDED RESULTS THROUGH PRAYERS:
1. Hannah – 1 Samuel 1: 12-14.
2. Jabez – 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.

Open Heavens 10th April 2018 The Benefit Of Mountains: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye

Topic: The Benefits Of Mountains [Open Heavens 10 April 2018, Tuesday]
Memorise: “Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:”Isaiah 40:4
Read: Acts 8:1-8 (KJV)
1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
Bible in One Year: Joshua 15-17, 1 Thessalonians 5.
MESSAGE:
Whenever we talk about mountains, the first thing that comes to mind is a big problem. However, mountains can be useful. Do you realise that mountains can be God’s own way of advertising you?

Open Heavens 13th February 2018: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye — Careless Warriors

Topic: Careless Warriors [Open Heavens 13 Tuesday February 2018]

Memorise: “Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” – Mark 13:33

Read: 1 Samuel 30:1-6 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

Provoking Divine Favour

Provoking Divine Favour

There is a powerful product from heaven which gives victory to men and women. This is a programme from heaven that determines whether a person is a medicocre' who resides at the tail region or a high flier. There is a product from heaven that makes you stand out wherever you are. It lavishes on you the blessings of God. It goes ahead of the beneficiary to pave way for him and serves as a ladder to the top.

When divine favour gets you to the top nobody can pull you down. The bestowal of divine favour is supervised by God Himself. this product can transfer a man from the prison to the palace and from the pit to the palace within twenty-four hours. Favour beautifies destinies. it has a capacity to double God's glory on anyone. Favour eliminates struggles and grants easy ride into blessings. It also releases blessings in abundance. It enables you to obtain the good treasures of the Lord.

The Power of Favour

Divine favour gives you an imsight into your breakthroughs. It shortens the distance between your dreams and the realization of such dreams. Favour brings blessings to the works of your hands. And it causes you to lend to nations. Favour grants you entrance into divine revelation. Honoe and recognition always follow favour. Favour enables you to experience success in every area of your business undertaking. It is the guarantor of your successful projects. It will make the enemies to bow and be subjected.

It is the only needed panacea for a broken marriage to come alive. Favour will make people to compete with each other to do you god. Favour makes you get promotion if no other person receives promotion. Divine favour will always make a difference in your life. How do we then provoke divine favour?

Let us consider some relevant references: Luke 2:52: And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man
Jesus, our perfect example, when on earth, needed favour in order to succeed.

Luke 1:28: And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women
From this, we learn that there are levels of favour. It is possible t be highly favoured.

Isaiah 60:10: And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee
Favour brings the mercy of God to your life.

Psalm 30:7 Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled
Favour brings strength into one's life. That is the meaning of "Thou hast made my mountain to stand strong".

Psalm 44:3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them
It was the favour of God that granted victory unto the children of Israel.

Psalm 41:11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me

Proverbs 12:2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn

Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord

Domestic blessings are traceable to faour. Divine favour brings about divine approval. it secures divine approval. This will lead to divine backing. It is just like God having a great bias for a person that He will completely surround his life. God will look upon His own with kindness and where others are helpless he will receive help. Then, God will begin to pamper you. He will grant you an exception to the race when divine favour comes upon your life. God will then single you out for blessings. He will grant you a special favour.

High Favour

This blessing canot come without possessing the qualifications required in the Bible. Matthew 7:7 says: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:. Prayer will secure favour with God and with men.

When you are a candidate of divine favour, you shall be at advantage anywhere you are. God will have a friendly regard towards you. The Lord your God will then give you the type of concession he cannot give to others. Such a favour will distinguish you among multitudes of people.

When divine favour comes upon your life, you will stand out and no one can crush you. You will be a candidate of excellence and elegance. When God's favour comes, supernatural assistance of God becomes regular.

People will show interest in you without you lobbying for it. Such favour will hearald your arrival wherever you go. It will cause men to locate you and deliver your rights into your hands.

Do you need God's favour on you instantly? Make this confession twenty one times, "I calim divine favour in the name of Jesus"". With your proclamation, angels of favour are already at work in your life.

Great Transformations

When God's favour comes into your life as it happened to Joseph, anything can happen to you within twenty-four hours. It was within twenty-four hours that Joseph moved from the prison to the palace. It was within twenty-four hours that David moved from being a sheperd boy to a celebrity.

Divine favour will make somebody out of a nobody. Divine favour facilitates regular divine encounters. You become God's delight. Then, there will be divine preference irrespective of the qualification of men and women around you. You will be immunized against being wasted by the enemy.

When there is divine favour, it will engineer productive performance. God will begin to fight your battles for you and favour will station you as a spectator and you will watch the enemies go through distress.

Divine favour will grant you access into God's mystery and God will make you to soar higher above any contrary situation. God will supply creative wisdom from heaven, which will move your life forward.

How do we provoke God's favour upon our lives?
Proverbs 3:3-4: 3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

A Friend of God

"As a Christian sister, you should not get married and discover that just immediately after marriage there is confusion and problems. The first key to provoking God's favour according to Proverbs 3:3-4 is to become a friend of God. Mercy and truth never forsake a friend of God. It is one thing to become born again, it is another thing entirely to have a regular communion with the Holy Spirit. It is also another thing to work one's way into where God wants you to be.

Becoming God's favourite needs certain requirements. The friend of God will not lie; they do not steal neither live in fornication and adultery. They do not cheat others. They do not retain evil in their minds; they speak the truth in their hearts
Proverbs 3:3-4: 3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

True Holiness

The second key to provoking divine favour is to practise uncompromising holiness. This days the message of holiness is being relegated to the background. Many people are longing to have the gifts without the giver. They want prosperity without the giver. The Bible says: "Without holiness no man shall see the Lord". Since favour is the presence of God upon your life, it follows that without holiness there is no favour. If you are living an unholy life the, you are writing letters to disfavour.

Be A Blessing

The third key is to go out to be a blessing to others. Slefish people are never favoured. When you go out of your way to bless, then you become highly favoured. Like the widow of Zarphath. She went out of her way of satisfy the servant of God and she became highly favoured.

Sacrificial Giving

The fourth way to provoke divine favour is sacrificial giving. Many of us give tithes and offering but not sacrificially. When you want to see God's favour, then give sacrificially. Learn from the life of David who determined to give God what cost him something. He gave God an offering that pained him. He turned down the opportunity to give God what cost him nothing. When an offering is sacrificial then you are courting divine favour.

War Against Anti-favour's Spirit

The fifth way to provoke God's favour is to wage war against anti-favour spirits.

Pray for God's Favour

The sixth step to take is to pray specifically for favour. The more you pray for favour, the more you will come under the banner of favour:
Job 33:26: 3He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

It is possible to pray for God's favour. When you say the correct prayer, then things will begin to happen in your life. Every man of God, that is instrumental in expanding God's kingdom has received nothing but God's favour.

Receive divine favour today and you will no longer be the same again.

Everything done against me, to spoil my joy in this year, be destroyed, in the name of Jesus

I receive the goodness of the Lord, in the land of the living, in the name of Jesus

O Lord, as Abraham received favour in your hands, let me receive your favour, so that I can excel, in the name of Jesus

PROPHETIC WORD:
God's strength is always available for you in your prayer life.

HYMN –(WE CHILDREN, LORD, HAVE COME)

*OUTLINE*
We are living in an age where everybody wants everything fast. There are fast-food, fast cars, jet planes, super computers and so on. Now, we want to put God in the same fast-lane and so we inadvertently pray 'fast prayers' for quick results. All we want to do is to push some buttons and have God respond quickly. That is wrong.

For the child of God. Prayer is a compulsory spiritual activity. We discover many times from the Scriptures that the Lord Jesus separated Himself from the people to pray. He also used several parables to teach on prayer.

For example, Luke 18:1-8, he emphasised that ought always to pray and not to give up. Throughout the Scriptures, much emphasis is placed on the importance of prayer in the life of the Christian.

Every time we pray, we are actually mounting pressure on the adversary. Too often, many wait until the pressure comes to them before they pray. The reason some Christian go through terrible ordeals in their lives is that they don't set themselves to pray early enough.

Get serious with your prayer life today and make the right changes for your spiritual development. It is laziness in prayer if you don't pray untill crisis comes.
Turn a new leaf today!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: TUESDAY MAY 16TH 2017 THEME: RELEASE YOUR FAITH

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: TUESDAY MAY 16TH 2017

THEME: RELEASE YOUR FAITH

Memorise:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.John 14:12

Read: Mark 11:22-24

11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

MESSAGE:

The ministry of signs and wonders is the ministry of God, and He reserves the right to partner with anyone He chooses (Hebrew 2:4). He can partner with someone operating in any of the five-fold ministries: apostle, prophets, pastors, teachers or evangelists. He can equally partner with ushers, choristers, instrumentalist, sanitation workers, etc. when God partners with even an ordinary choir member or instrumentalist, demons will flee! This happened in David’s life when God partnered with him as just a harp player (1Samuel 16:23). Never look down on yourself! God can work with anyone who is willing to cooperate with Him. Are you willing? Are you ready to meet with His requirements? Are you asking like some followers of Jesus once asked Him in John 6:28b:

“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?”

Here is His response to you in John 14:12:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

Note however, that if you desire to operate in the miraculous, you must be a person of faith. Why? Faith attracts God into the ordinary situations of life. It brings the divine into contact with the natural. In fact, in Mark 16:17-18, Jesus says if only you can believe in Him, signs will definitely follow you. Are you experiencing signs and wonders in your ministry? If you are not, it could be that you are not releasing your faith, not necessarily because you do not have faith. If you lack faith in God, you could never be born again in the first place. If you follow the steps to salvation and became born again, you definitely have faith. The same faith is required of you every time you go before God for something: whether to make a request, to worship or to praise Him. You need to release your faith. In Mark 11:22-23, Jesus says if only you can release your faith, you can command a mountain to move, and it will go to the destination that you have sent it. Faith is the key to the miraculous. When you lay your hands on the sick and pray for them, do you release your faith as well? If you refuse to release your faith, nothing will happen. When you pray, God looks for your faith before He acts on that prayer. Beloved, where is your faith? If you have faith, you will trust in God’s ability to meet your needs. If you have faith, you will have great expectations. If you have faith, you won’t seek any other alternative to God’s intervention. If you have faith, you will not be double-minded. Where is your faith? Release it today!

Key Point:

Faith is like an identity card that you must present whenever you go into God’s presence.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Deuteronomy 25-27
Jeremiah 31:31-40

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 1: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4.Whenlife’s swift race is run,
Death’s cold work almost done
Be near to me.
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

HIS VOICE

HIS VOICE:
Memorise: ON that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the books of records of the chronicles, and they were read before the king. Esther 6:1.

Insight: Esther 6:1-10.

Psalms 37:1-7 says,
FRET not thyself because of evil doers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and whither as the green herb.
Trust in the LORD,and do good:so shall thou dwell in the Land, and verily thou shall be fed.
Delight thyself also in the LORD;and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy ways unto the LORD;trust also in him:and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgement as the noonday.
Rest in the LORD,and wait patiently for him:fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

The words of truth above that assures that those that belong to the Lord and trust in him, delighting themselves in his ways, remain secured and safe and shall at the end reap success, is the wisdom behind the victory of Mordecai over Haman.
As a result of pride, Haman purposed to get rid of Mordecai, unfortunately for him,the God whom Mordecai serves with the whole of his heart never sleeps nor slumber, and would never allow that the rod of the wicked should fall upon the lot of the righteous.
The Lord stood in the way of Haman, and because the heart of kings and men are before him,he stirred up king Ahasuerus,in a means to fight for his beloved, took away the king's eyes of slumber and lead him into the ancient records of good deeds, ensuring that Mordecai works of good won't go unrewarded, the king had no choice but to fulfil the mind of God for Mordecai.
I decree to you this morning, the Lord will see to it that your reward of good deeds will not fall unto the ground,
He will fight for you and plead your cause, where you can't go and defend yourself, the Lord who is the greatest advocate of all,who judges in righteousness will defend you, stand by you, be you stay and give you the rights that you deserve in Jesus name.
But,there is something i want you to lay to heart, the Lord fought for Mordecai through his past records of good deeds. Never you despise those little good deeds that comes your way, lay hold on every opportunity to do good, cast your bread upon many waters, for you cannot tell which one will yield its best. Stay with God no matter what,no good thing will He withhold from they that  loves him.

Know this:I beseech you beloved of God, be steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.

Gives Laughter

Memorise: And think not to say within yourselves,
We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto
you, that God is able of these stones to raise up
children unto Abraham. – Matthew 3:9
Read: Psalm 33:8-11 (KJV)
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the
inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9 For he spake, and it was done; he
commanded, and it stood fast.
10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the
heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of
the people of none effect.
11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever,
the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Bible in One Year: Deuteronomy 23-24,
Jeremiah 31:15-30, Hymn: Sing hymn 5
MESSAGE:
God makes you laugh when He turns His
prophecies into decrees. There is a difference
between prophecies and decrees. When you
hear “Thus says the Lord” that is a prophecy for
which you will need to wait to see its fulfilment.
In contrast, when God suddenly decides to issue
a decree, such as “Let there be light”, you will
know that your waiting period is over, as your
miracle will manifest immediately. In Genesis
1:3, when God said “Let there be light”, there
was no need to vote on it, and neither was
there any delay, because He had decreed it.
Psalm 33:8-9 says one reason why the whole
earth should fear God is that whenever He
speaks, it is done. All He has to do is to speak,
and the next moment, it is done. By the grace
of God, I have witnessed God operate in this
dimension. Sometime ago, a couple came to us
believing God for the fruit of the womb. I asked
them, “What kind of baby do you want” Their
response was simultaneous: the man wanted a
boy while his wife wanted a girl. So I said we
should better make it twins – a boy and a girl –
and both of them said “Amen”. Exactly nine
months after, the man was carrying his baby
boy and the wife was carrying her baby girl.
This season, God is saying let there be light,
healing, fruitfulness, increase, promotion, victory
over enemies and fullness of joy in your life, and
so shall it be!
Moreover, God makes you laugh when He
decides to show you His Almightiness. After
declaring that Sarah would have a child, she
laughed, but denied laughing when He asked her
why she laughed (Genesis 18:11-15). Then He
asked, “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?”
Every man definitely has his limits, and even
spirits are limited, but not the Father of spirits
(Hebrews 12:9). Hence, Luke 1:37 says nothing
is impossible with our God. He can suspend
physical laws and have His way any day.
Matthew 3:9 says this God can produce children
out of stones! Whatever the specialists have
said cannot hinder my God. Where they are
limited, He is not. The resources they lack, He
has in abundance. What they do not know, is
common knowledge to Him. His word is full of
power and gives direction to anything He wants
done. This is why I know that this season,
everything standing in your way to laughter shall
give way so that you can laugh. You shall laugh
last and your laughter shall be unstoppable!
Prayer Point: Father, for every couple trusting
You for the fruit of the womb in my local
assembly, Please give them laughter today!

Memorise: That which is gone out of thy lips
thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill
offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the
LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy
mouth. – Deuteronomy 23:23
Read: Judges 11:29-36 (KJV)
29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon
Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and
Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead,
and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto
the children of Ammon.
30 And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD,
and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the
children of Ammon into mine hands,
31 Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh
forth of the doors of my house to meet me,
when I return in peace from the children of
Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will
offer it up for a burnt offering.
32 So Jephthah passed over unto the children of
Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD
delivered them into his hands.
33 And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou
come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto
the plain of the vineyards, with a very great
slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were
subdued before the children of Israel.
34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his
house, and, behold, his daughter came out to
meet him with timbrels and with dances: and
she was his only child; beside her he had
neither son nor daughter.
35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that
he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter!
thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one
of them that trouble me: for I have opened my
mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
36 And she said unto him, My father, if thou
hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me
according to that which hath proceeded out of
thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken
vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of
the children of Ammon.

MESSAGE:
Sometimes, some people promise God one
thing, but when the time comes to redeem the
pledge, they bring something else. Do you think
that God does not have records in Heaven?
Once you make a pledge to God, don’t try to
change it. Ecclesiastes 5:6 says,
“Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin;
neither say thou before the angel, that it was an
error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice,
and destroy the work of thine hands?”
After you have committed yourself to a
particular thing as a vow, if you later return to
say, “It was a slip of the tongue, God will
understand”, you are only deceiving yourself.
Such an excuse is not acceptable to God. God
expects you to stand by your word. Hence, as
part of the requirements to stand in God’s holy
place, Psalm 15:4 says if you make a vow, you
are expected to do everything possible to
redeem it, no matter the cost, sacrifice or
inconveniencies involved. Do you have this
quality? It is part of the integrity we must have
as believers.
Another lesson on vows is that you must be
extremely careful before making a vow. Think
very well before pledging a commitment to do a
particular thing, because once it has gone out
of your mouth, you may not be able to beat a
retreat. Some people get carried away with zeal
and make a mouth-watering vow but later find it
difficult to redeem it. Be careful! Only vow to
give up what is within the limit of your
capability and not what you know you cannot
cope with! The story of Jephthah is a very
touching one. He needed victory so badly that
he vowed to sacrifice to God whatever first
came out of his house to meet him on his
return. After the battle was over, as he returned
home with great joy, it was his only child – his
virgin daughter – that came out first to
welcome him. He felt so bad. He realised the
rashness of his vow, but he could not turn back
from his promise. Finally, one more lesson on
vows is that God does not like to hear the voice
of vow-defaulters, and He would ultimately
destroy their efforts (Ecclesiastes 5:6) . Is God
fighting you over a vow you have defaulted on?
Repent now and restitute. If need be, seek the
guidance of a Spirit-filled Christian counsellor or
pastor.
Action Point: Unpaid vows are debts that can
hinder you from making heaven. Prayerfully recall
your unpaid debts and redeem them fast.

*Daily Manna:*

THURSDAY MAY 11

*Judgment On The Abominable*
*********************************

TEXT: EZEKIEL 16:35-43
Key verse:
*_“And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy” (Ezekiel 16:38)._*

A typical 21st century society is bedevilled by all forms of crime: financial, economic, sexual and social perversions, with all forms of atrocities perpetrated against mankind. A question that should readily navigate our minds should be, how would our society have looked like, if there were no laws?

This was the case of the children of Israel at the time of Ezekiel. Though they had been given laws to follow, yet they committed all forms of crimes against God (idolatry being the chiefest). It was such a lawless society. Since there appeared to be no law enforcement agents, God took it upon Himself the role of the law enforcement Agent. Judgment was declared upon the abominable nation.

This is a great lesson for all to learn. Though it appears that there is no immediate judgment for sin and there is nobody to enforce judgment for sin, a time is coming when the cup of God’s fury shall be full and judgment shall be pronounced on sinners. Every action of man done in the secret or in the open, whether it be good or bad, shall receive the judgment of God. If God could pronounce such judgment on the nation he referred to as His bride, it shows that there is no respect of persons with Him.

Here then is the need for all to be careful. God’s love and compassion must be carefully weighed against His severity and judgement. Sinners must court His love and forgiveness before it is too late. Saints on the other hand must remain in the faith till the very end, if they are not to court His hot displeasure.

*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:* The wicked shall not be unpunished.

The Bible IN ONE YEAR: 2 CHRONICLES: 13-17

*May we escape the wrath to come!*

HIS VOICE:
Memorise: And when the sun was up,they were scorched, and because they have no root, they withered away. Matthew 13:6.

Insight: Luke 8:11-15.

The parable of the sower and the seed is one of the most important parable spoken by the Lord Jesus before his disciples and other multitudes. He opens up the foundation upon which the kingdom is built, not keeping them in ignorance about the meaning of this crucial parable.
While he establish, that this parable is for thier advantage and usefulness, He affirms:" unto you,it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given,he continued clarifying this truth in thier heart, saying, blessed are your eyes, for they see:and your ears, for they hear.
You have been given the right to the deep things of God and your eyes as well as your ears are blessed, you are not dull of hearing,as you belong to Christ.
Explaining the meaning of this parable, He said, the seed is the Word of God,
Some fell at the way side, those are they which hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of thier hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. ( Luke 8:12).
The devil has failed concerning you, because the Word has saved you, having grown in your heart.
They that fell on the rock or stony ground are they which when they hear, receive the word with Joy and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away (Luke 8:13).
Can you see the Wisdom of God?,revealing that been saved isn't the end of your new creation, the word of God that got you transformed, will require you to stay firm with it to the end without wavering.
Your faith in Christ, will pass through trials because you are in the World but not of this World and the World is against the Word of God.
1 peter 1:7 establishes this:
That the trail of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
James 1:2-3,helps us more saying,
My brethren,count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
It is therefore necessary that you allow the Word of God have root in you. Because tribulations, persecutions will arise as a result of your faith in Christ and your believe in his name, you can't afford to be offended, and fall out of the Grace of God where in you stand.
Is your ground stony? Break up your fallow ground today.

Pray this:Father, by your grace that makes perfect in weakness, keep me rooted in your word, settled and established, that i will stand still in  time of trials and temptation.

MESSAGE:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

As we have seen in our previous studies, it is a terrible thing to be lonely and forsaken by relatives and friends, or to be told by your pastor that your problem defies all spiritual efforts. In that seemingly hopeless state, God can reach out to you and turn things around. Let us look at some reasons why He will help you. First of all, Isaiah 63:1 says He is mighty to save.
In other words, not only is this God the Almighty God, He can equally save in a mighty way. This means, not only can He save you from “small” or “medium size” problems, He can also deliver you from problems that have defied all attempted solutions. In Deuteronomy 32:39, the Lord says,

“See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”

From this scripture, we understand that He has the final say regarding life and death. He is the only one who can tell the fellow that the whole world has condemned to death, “You will surely live.” Have you been condemned to death, sickness or barrenness of any kind? Fear not! This Almighty God will arise because of you, and He shall deliver you today!

Moreover, in today’s Bible reading, He made some very powerful promises to you. He says He knows you are weak, helpless and defenceless, but that He will strengthen you. He says He will also help you. He knows the vanity of receiving help from men, hence the reason He says He will help you. God’s help is coming your way this season! Expect divine assistance to come your way now! Furthermore, He says He will uphold you. This means no problem or difficulty can swallow you. When God upholds you, you cannot fall. He also promises to disgrace your enemies. Every agent of darkness working against you shall be disgraced today! Furthermore, He says He will confound your enemies. That means they will be so confused that they will not know what they are doing. He says He will reduce them to nothing and cause them to perish. Every sickness or sorrow in your life shall be reduced to nothing in Jesus’ Name. Every battle against your life and destiny shall be overturned this season. All those who have risen up against you shall fall for your sake! The Lord will help you! The Lord will fight for you! From now on, you are moving from your point of weakness and vulnerability to a point of power and strength!

ACTION POINT:

Receive all the promises discussed in the devotional study with thanksgiving. Personalize and confess each of these promises.

1. Through the love of God, our Saviour,
All will be well;
Free and changeless is His favour,
All will be well;
Precious is the blood that healed us,
Perfect is the grace that sealed us,
Strong the hand stretched out to shield us,
All will be well.

2. Though we pass through tribulation,
All will be well;
Ours is such a full salvation,
All will be well.
Happy when in God confiding,
Fruitful if in Christ abiding,
Holy through the Spirit's guiding,
All will be well.

3. We expect a bright tomorrow;
All will be well;
Faith can sing through days of sorrow,
All will be well;
On our Father's love relying,
Jesus every need supplying
In our living, in our dying,

MESSAGE:
In the midst of delay, man often comes up with
alternatives to God’s original plan or purpose.
This is a dangerous thing to do because man’s
alternative charts a new course, which can
completely take the individual concerned out of
God’s original plan. Also, any such alternative is
usually nothing more than just a quick fix
compared to God’s permanent solution.
Speaking of quick fixes, the age we live in
encourages that. We live in an age of instant
gratification. Most people are no longer
interested in any type of process; whatever they
want, they want it now! This is what I term the
“Microwave Mentality”. People are so much in a
hurry that they cannot dedicate time to do what
they should do properly.
Sadly, the trend of microwave mentality has
crept into the Church and has given birth to
what I call “Microwave Christianity”. Microwave
Christianity is doing more harm than good to the
Body of Christ. A preacher says, “All you have
to do is just believe”. The sinner says, “I
believe”. “Praise God, you are now born again”,
the preacher replies. He is in so much of a
hurry to get the sinner saved that he cannot
even tell him or her to confess his or her sins
to God. Can God save a sinner who has not
confessed his or her sins (Romans 10:10) ? That
is “microwave salvation”! The name of that
sinner may be written in the preacher’s book or
in the register of church members, but is it in
the Lamb’s Book of Life? What about
discipleship? Everything follows the same
pattern – microwave! When products of this
anomaly are confronted by the storms of life or
persecution for their faith, they find it difficult
to endure. Isaiah 28:10 reveals to us the
pattern we must follow in raising champions for
God:
“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a
little, and there a little.”
In this age of instant gratification, God remains
unmoved and unchanged: He still follows His
order and timing in raising those He will use.
Every spiritual microwave product portends
problems, sorrow and regret in the future. From
salvation to discipleship, no stage must be
skipped. Diligence plays a key role in everything
that concerns the Kingdom of God. Hence,
Hebrews 6:1 says the elementary principles
must be laid first, before you can move onto
perfection. If the foundation is tempered with,
the product will be unstable. When people are
recommended to occupy spiritual positions that
they are not spiritually qualified for, those
sponsoring them are only creating problems for
the future. Are you a product of Microwave
Christianity? Go back to the basis and rebuild
yourself!
Key Point: If we fail to diligently fight for the faith
that was delivered to us, a time will come when
all we would be left with will be fakes!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL...

DATE: THURSDAY 23RD FEBRUARY  2017

THEME: MY REDEEMER LIVES

Memorise:

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. John 14:19

Read: Mark 16:1-6

16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

16:3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

16:4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

MESSAGE:

Every time I ponder on the glory awaiting all those who make it to Heaven, I feel so excited. ItIt is so magnificent that the ordinary human heart cannot fathom it. If you will partake of this glory, you must not be discouraged in your walk of faith with God. You must have the assurance in your heart that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is your Redeemer, is alive, and because He is alive, your faith is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:14 & 20). There are some who are at the point of giving up their faith. They are no longer excited about their confession of faith in Jesus Christ. Some are fainting in their spirit, and their level of commitment has waned. If you are in such situation, the Holy Spirit in Hebrew 10:38-39 says this to you:
"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

The purpose of discouragement is to make you backslide. It is aimed at stopping the good things you started. Some of the activities of the Pharisees were aimed at discouraging the followers of Jesus, but their plots failed. Although they had Him crucified, some of His followers still followed Him to the very end. How amazing it was for them when they realised that Jesus had risen from the dead! The place where they laid His body was empty, and it remains so till today! I prophecy into your life that the very spot where the enemy hoped you will remain shall become empty!

I declare to you that there is power in the resurrection of Jesus. Every arrow of discouragement shot at you to make you faint shall instead birth a spirit of boldness in you in Jesus’ Name. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. You need to have faith in Jesus, the Redeemer of mankind. He lives forever more and no situation is beyond Him. Every delay you have experienced is just to make your testimony more glorious. You need to persist in the place of prayer. As long as you are still awaiting your testimony, don’t stop confessing the promises of God. Take practical steps to actualise God’s plan and purpose for your life. The women kept going to the tomb because there was an assurance in their spirit that their efforts would not be wasted. May be you have tried all you can, and yet there remains a Goliath in your life. Because your Redeemer lives, that problem will not overcome you. Because your Redeemer lives, that sickness will come to an end. Problems respond to either the call of faith or doubt. Make sure all your challenges hear the call of faith from you saying: "because He lives, I can face tomorrow; my tomorrow shall be alright whether the devil likes it or not." It shall be so in Jesus’ Name.

Action Point:

Make this confession of faith: Lord Jesus, become You live, I shall also live and not die.

MESSAGE: The easiest way to access victory in the kingdom of God is through praise. Each time we praise the Name of the Lord, great and marvellous things are bound to happen. If you are a believer and you do not yet know the essence of praise, you are missing a lot of blessings, opportunities and privileges. Our God is all-powerful, all-knowing and is the Almighty. The moment we are committed to the realm of praise, things begin to happen at His command. There are people who have been knocking on certain doors of opportunities before now, but to no avail. Why don’t you try praise? You will be surprised at how fast those doors will open. The fact that you are praising the One that is higher than the highest should give you the assurance that your case is settled. Praise to God is an indication of absolute trust in Him. Those who put their confidence in God will always praise Him until they receive their victory, and even after receiving their victory, they still praise Him. It is the desire of the Almighty God that all His children should move from one level of victory to the other. When the people of God praise Him, infirmities, yokes, bondage, barrenness and all the works of the devil are destroyed. In the realm of praise, every limitation gives way. In the battle of life, some are victors while some are victims. I decree into your life that you will continue to enjoy the victory of the Lord in Jesus’ Name. Victors know how to move God into action. God is looking for people who can move Him through their praise. Such people will enjoy His mercy instead of receiving His judgement. Praise is the most powerful instrument we can use to move God. The whole of creation was designed to praise God (Psalm 150:5, Psalm 148). The greatest assignment of angels in Heaven is praising God (Revelations 4:8-9, Psalm 148:2). When we get to heaven, our assignment will be to keep praising God (Revelations 7:14-15, Psalm 145:2). Praise has greater impact whenever we come together to offer it to God, because His throne is set wherever His people are praising Him (Psalm 22:3). When you bow before God in praise, you are showing that He alone is the Most High. Jehoshaphat enjoyed the victory of the Lord without fighting a battle! This is what praise can do. While the enemies were gathering their mercenaries and weapons of war against Judah, the people of God gathered momentum for praise. They believed in the victory of the Lord by faith, and all their enemies were smitten before them. From today, as you praise the Lord, He will stand in your place and take over every battle of your life, and your victory shall be total in Jesus’ Name. Prayer Point: Father, let Your praise never cease from my lips. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 9-11 Isaiah 43:1-15 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. 20:22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

20:23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

20:24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

20:25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

20:26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the Lord: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.

Our Daily Bread devotional, January 18, 2017 - Long Shadows

Topic: Long Shadows [Wednesday January 18, 2017]

Read: Psalm 100, Bible in a Year: Genesis 43–45; Matthew 12:24–50

The Lord is good and his love . . . continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5

Several years ago, my wife and I stayed in a rustic bed-and-breakfast in the remote Yorkshire Dales of England. We were there with four other couples, all British, whom we had never met before. Sitting in the living room with our after-dinner coffees, the conversation turned to occupations with the question “What do you do?” At the time I was serving as the president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and I assumed that no one there knew of MBI or its founder, D. L. Moody. When I mentioned the name of the school, their response was immediate and surprising. “Of Moody and Sankey . . . that Moody?” Another guest added, “We have a Sankey hymnal and our family often gathers around the piano to sing from it.” I was amazed! The evangelist Dwight Moody and his musician Ira Sankey had held meetings in the British Isles more than 120 years ago, and their influence was still being felt.

Memorise: In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. – John 14:2

Read: John 14:1-3 (KJV)

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Bible in One Year: Mark 7-8, Isaiah 14:12-32

MESSAGE:

In Genesis 14:17-24, God the Father was revealed to Abraham as the Possessor of heaven and earth. Abraham received this revelation, and he set his heart to run with it. He was ready to forfeit the spoils of war because he was fully persuaded that he would never lack. He could take the risk of starting afresh because he knew the Lord as Possessor of Heaven and earth. The end result was that his wealth was greatly multiplied. Oh how true it is that the knowledge of God strengthens and births exploits! If you are afraid of poverty or of permanent loss, then you do not yet know the Father as Possessor of heaven and earth. If you afraid of dying small or dying in want, then you have not yet appropriated this revelation of His person in your spirit.

                                               FACTS ABOUT MIDNIGHT PRAYER:

1. MIDNIGHT is a time of transition, from one day to another. God can bring a transition in your life as you pray at MIDNIGHT.

2. MIDNIGHT is a time of great spiritual activity, both good and evil. Destinies of men are shaped and interrupted at MIDNIGHT.
If you are not shaping your destiny at MIDNIGHT, then somebody may interrupt your life at MIDNIGHT.

3. At a natural level great victories have been won when nations were caught by surprise as their armies were asleep at MIDNIGHT. Satan launches attacks at MIDNIGHT: he feeds people in their dreams at MIDNIGHT; he rapes others in their dream as they are asleep at MIDNIGHT, etc.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Hebrews 4:13

In 2015 an international research company stated that there were 245 million surveillance cameras installed worldwide, and the number was growing by 15 percent every year. In addition, multiplied millions of people with smartphones capture daily images ranging from birthday parties to bank robberies. Whether we applaud the increased security or denounce the diminished privacy, we live in a global, cameras-everywhere society.

Topic: Taming The Monster [Thursday January 12, 2017]

Text: Isaiah 27:1-13

Key Verse: "In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea" (Isaiah 27:1).

History is dotted with accounts of men who wielded absolute power – totalitarian dictators who shattered the destinies of millions of fellow human beings. Notable among this class is Josef Stalin who presided over USSR, the biggest empire of all times. At the peak of his power, he was said to have taken the lives of his subjects at the rate of 1500 per day. Such men were dreadful and formidable like leviathan (a fierce sea monster). Isaiah chapter 27 is a prophecy about God’s plan and care for His people – Israel and the Church.

Memorise: Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. – Psalm 40:15

Read: Psalm 40:14-17 (KJV)

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Bible in One Year: Matthew 24-25, Isaiah 9:13-10:4

MESSAGE:

When you are connected to the All-Sufficient God, you will not lack any good thing. Why? Bible scholars call Him Jehovah El Shaddai. In other words, He is the "Breasted One". A baby sucks from the mother's breasts. Every time the child calls for milk, it is always there. All your needs can be fully satisfied in Christ. Sometime ago at our church in Ebute Metta (Lagos), I taught that when the Almighty God made this declaration:

Topic: Work Together [Wednesday January 11, 2017]

Read: Romans 8:28–30, Bible in a Year: Genesis 27–28; Matthew 8:18–34

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

My wife makes an amazing pot roast dinner. She takes raw meat, along with raw sliced white and sweet potatoes, celery, mushrooms, carrots, and onions and throws them into the slow cooker. Six or seven hours later the aroma fills the house, and the first taste is a delight. It is always to my advantage to wait until the ingredients in the slow cooker work together to achieve something they could not achieve individually.

Text: Genesis 26:1-5

Key Verse: "And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of" (Genesis 26:2).

Egypt has a very amazing history. The Ancient Egyptians started a civilization that lasted for more than 3000 years. They laid the foundation of what we have today as modern civilization. They contributed significantly to the development of Medicine, Engineering, Astronomy and Mathematics. The division of day and night into 24 hours and use of clock started with them.

Memorise: And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:Genesis 14:19

Read: Genesis 14:17-24 (KJV)

17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

Bible in One Year: Matthew 22-23, Isaiah 9:1-12

MESSAGE:

The Almighty God is one, yet He manifests Himself as three different persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Different things happen that reveal the multifaceted nature of God's character whenever He manifests Himself as any of these three persons. When God manifests Himself as God the Father, the earth trembles, the hills melt and the enemies scatter

(Make quick money wit Bitcoin) You might have heard about Bitcoin or even transacting with Bitcoin already. Bitcoin has been in existence since 2009 but many Nigerians learnt about it in 2016 through some online investment schemes that transacts with Bitcoin.

However, Irrespective of the fact that you have done one or two transactions with Bitcoin, you will be astonished to realize that there are still more to explore on Bitcoin.
But some Nigerians are yet to know what Bitcoin is, to carry everyone along let’s do a brief introduction to Bitcoin.
Some persons have this misconception that 'Bitcoin belongs to Ponzi schemes' because they know nothing about Bitcoin. Ponzi schemes make use of currency that is worldly accepted. Previously Ponzi schemes used PayPal but due to high demand for Bitcoin and how ease and speedy it is for transactions, it becomes the ideal currency. So Bitcoin doesn’t belong to ponzi schemes, any person or organization can use Bitcoin for transactions just like PayPal.
What really is Bitcoin?
Bitcoins are fully digital virtual coins that can be exchanged directly between two parties via the web either in the same country or not, without the need for an intermediary such as Western Union Money transfer.
Unlike modern money, Bitcoin, which has often been called money for the internet, is not controlled or endorsed by any bank or central government or authority , such as the Federal Reserve.
Bitcoin is a means of exchange that is generally accepted in the digital world, that’s why it is called digital currency.
Just like any other currency, Bitcoin has value and it is also in the exchange market. When Bitcoin started, 1BTC was less than 1USD. As at today, 1BTC is equivalent to 1000+USD. Meaning if own 1BTC and you want to exchange it, the other party will pay you 1000USD (N500,000)

Read: 2 Corinthians 5:18–6:2, Bible in a Year: Malachi 1–4; Revelation 22

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Our preschool-age granddaughter Maggie and her kindergarten-age sister Katie hauled several blankets to the backyard, where they proceeded to build a blanket tent in which to play. They had been outside a while when their mom heard Maggie call for her.

“Mom, come here quick!” Maggie yelled. “I want to ask Jesus into my heart, and I need your help!” Apparently at that moment her need for Jesus became clear to her, and she was ready to put her faith in Him.

Topic: Acceptable Service [Saturday 31, December 2016]

Memorise: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. – James 1:27

Read: Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Bible in One Year: Numbers 7:84-10:10, Psalms 140

MESSAGE:

The major difference between David and the other soldiers at the war front was simply the fact that David could not stand the insult and blasphemy against the God of Israel. He knew God so well, and he feared and honoured Him so much that he decided to confront the giant warrior called Goliath without any fear of losing his life. David, in this case, took the meaning of acceptable service to another level. It can be very painful when the authority of God is so challenged, you will want to do anything to defend Him even if it means doing so with your life. In 1 Samuel 17:23-26, Goliath came out, boasted exceedingly and asked; “Where is the God of Israel?” For as many as had no intimate relationship with God, this threat, challenge and disgraced meant nothing to them. But then, one day, a little boy who loved the Lord was there, he heard Goliath talk against his God and he got very angry. His love for God propelled him to dare this giant that was bringing shame on God and His people.
