Many worshippers at the popular Word of Life Bible Church on Sunday escaped death by the whiskers as a mysterious fire razed a part of the building owned by
the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
But for the quick discovery of the fire, the inferno which consumed the fourth floor of the Church, which houses the guest house and hosts some Sunday activities conducted by the church, would have completely razed the entire building.
It was gathered that the fire incident occurred at about 12:55pm when the second Sunday service had just ended.
However, it took the combined efforts of the men of the Delta State fire service, the fire departments of the SPDC and the NNPC fire service to extinguish the raging fire.
In a statement signed by the head of the church media team, Pastor Victor Abraham, which was posted on the official Facebook account of the church, Oritsejafor noted that no casualty was recorded during the incident.
“At 12:55pm today, Sunday 15th, March 2015, The Eagle House Building particularly the Top Floor “Eagle Nest Guest House” caught fire. The incident took place as the second service ended. Fortunately, the combined forces of SPDC, NNPC,and Delta State Fire Services arrived promptly at the scene and put out the fire.
“Please note that no life was lost and there were no injuries to members or personnel. Damages are only on the top floor of the eagle house building which is the Eagle Nest Guest House,” the statement said.
He however added that the cause of the fire outbreak which seriously damaged the affected floor was still being investigated.
